ARTIST ACTION Arise in TOKYO

1983年に木村達司（key）と、甲田益也子（vo）が結成したハイブリッドなオルタネイティブ・ポップユニット。
独特の音楽センスとファッショナブルなヴィジュアルが話題を呼び、1985年、イギリスはラフ・トレード、ヨーロッパ他ではヴァージン・レコード、日本ではアルファ・ムーン・レコードよりデビュー。以来、木村達司の作る繊細でミニマルなトラックと透明感のある甲田益也子のボーカルのマッチングによる浮遊感のあるONE AND ONLYのスタイルをブレる事無く貫き続けている。
88年に、丸井のTV-CMに使用されたシングル「Miracle Play～天使の降る夜」で大きな人気を集めた。91年にはWEA香港の招きによりアジア・プロモーションも展開し成功を収める。
レコーディング参加したミュージシャンは、佐久間正英、清水靖晃,、窪田晴男、富家哲、トニー・レヴィン、ミノ・シネル、モーガン・フィッシャー、ピーター・シェラー（アンビシャス・ラバーズ）、といった個性豊かな実力者ばかりであった。
MOON RECORDでアルバム4枚、EPIC SONY （現在のEPIC RECORD）で３枚、EAST WORKSでアルバム１枚、98年にはEAST WORKSより作曲及びプロデューサーに、細野晴臣、清水靖晃、テイ・トウワ、ゴンザレス三上、ピーター・シェラー、etc.という豪華な顔ぶれを迎えた甲田益也子のソロアルバムをリリース。
その後もマイペースに活動を続けながら、甲田益也子は89年に映画「ファンシイダンス」で役者としてもデビュー、99年、手塚眞監督作品「白痴」で映画初主演。木村達司は他アーティストのプロデュースやアレンジ、CMや映画音楽を多数手がけるなど、個々の活動も多彩に展開している。

dip in the pool was formed in 1983 by Tatsuji Kimura and Miyako Koda. They soon earned a reputation in the subculture scene because of their unique sense of music and fashion, and in 1985, they debuted in England on the Rough Trade label, in other European countries on Virgin Records, and on Alfa Moon Records in Japan. Since then, they have been true to their own style, which is an exquisite combination of sensitive and minimalist tracks by Tatsuji Kimura and of pure floating voice of Miyako Koda. In 1988, their single “Miracle Play on a Christmas Day,” which was commissioned by Marui Department Store for a television commercial, rose in the charts. In 1991, WEA Hong-Kong began promoting them with great success in Asia. They released four albums on Moon Records, three on Epic Sony Records, and one from East Works Entertainment. In recording these albums, they worked with many brilliant musicians, including Masahide Sakuma, Yasuaki Shimizu, Haruo Kubota, Satoshi Tomiie, Tony Levin, Mino Cinelu, Morgan Fisher, and Peter Scherer. In 1998, E.W.E. released Miyako Koda’s solo album Jupiter with tracks composed and produced by Haruomi Hosono, Yasuaki Shimizu, Towa Tei, Gonzaleth Mikami, and Peter Scherer. At the same time, Miyako Koda made her screen debut in Fancy Dance directed by Suoh Masayuki. In 1999, she played a heroine in Tezka Makoto’s Hakuchi and attended the Venice Film Festival. Meanwhile, Tatsuji Kimura has been working as a composer, as an arranger, and as a producer for various new artists. His work may also be found in movies and commercials. In 2011, dip in the pool released the album brown eyes on bellewood records. Friends produced three music videos for this album. These new music videos and older ones were shown at a gallery in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo for the first time on 30 December 2011. All of their compositions have their own artistic appeal with a broad fan base.

電子音楽をベースにジャンルレスに活動する音楽家。元FPM。ROBO*BRAZILEIRAとしてブラジル音楽を歌う等ユニークなソロ活動を主体に、Towa Tei、Atom Heart、Clare and The Reasons、Fernanda Takai等、ジャンル問わず共作・共演。CM、中野裕之、篠山紀信、桑原茂一等への音楽提供も多数。MEGADOLLYレーベル代表として新しい形の「音楽のソーシャル・ハブ」になるべく、直接配信契約するiTunes Storeで多様なアーティスト作品を全世界発表すると共に、ジャンルレスなミュージシャンをゲストにボーダーレスな場所で開催するライブイベント「We “hub” music!」を主催。2011年には「Red Hot + Rio 2」に、Beck、Caetano Veloso、Bebel Gilberto、David Byrne等と共に、Red Hotシリーズ17作で初めて日本から参加。

An electronic artist, composer, arranger, and producer based in Tokyo, Yasuda sings Brazilian music as the robot ROBO*BRAZILEIRA. He is a representative of the MEGADOLLY label and an ex-member of Fantastic Plastic Machine. As an artist, he constantly creates solo works, provided for various compilations, and collaboratively produces/performs with other artists, including Towa Tei, Señor Coconut (Atom™), Clare and The Reasons, and Fernanda Takai (Pato Fu). He also acts as a producer and composer for advertisements, Hiroyuki Nakano’s films, Kishin Shinoyama’s photo movies, and Moichi Kuwahara’s comedies and performances. Participating in a new social hub in music, his label MEGADOLLY distributes omnivorously worldwide in the directly-signed iTunes Store, and he presides over a series of live events (We ‘hub’ music!) of genre-less musicians at borderless venues. He has performed at Les Siestes Electroniques in Toulouse, France (with Chicks on speed, Opiate, and Schneider TM), at sonarsound tokyo, and at Apple Stores. He lectures at Musashino Academia Musicae. In 2011, he contributed the track “Águas de Março” with Atom™ featuring Fernanda Takai and Moreno Veloso to Red Hot+Rio 2 that included a lineup of Beck, Caetano Veloso, Bebel Gilberto, and David Byrne.

音楽家/映画監督

ウォルト・ディズニーやティム・バートンに影響を受け独自のファンタジー映像やキャラクターを作り出す制作プロダクションのクロア（croix）の代表でもある。
複数の顔を使い分けているが独自の世界観で包括されている。
楽器はピアノとキーボードを得意とする。

2006年春より坂本龍一らが設立のプロダクション・オフィスのLLP10℃とエージェント契約。
2008年11月、葉加瀬太郎氏レーベルHatsUnlimitedから、坂本龍一、高橋幸宏、大貫妙子、堀込泰行（キリンジ）、平野啓一郎（芥川賞作家）などをフューチャーしたアルバム「青い蝶」をメジャー・リリース。
それらのアーティスト以外にもJaques Morelenbaum、Chen Hao、…etc、数多の世界的アーティストとの共演経験を持つ。

一方、2008年に映画「西の魔女が死んだ」の全編音楽を手掛け、2009年にも本橋成一監督「バオバブの記憶」など、映画音楽も積極的に手掛けている。

また映像監督としても活動の幅を広げつつあり、自身のアルバム「青い蝶」ではプロモーションビデオも監督制作し、ショートショートフィルムフェスティバル&アジア2009にノミネートや札幌国際短編映画祭に招待出展されるなど評価が高い、また舞台を総合演出するなど活動が多岐にわたるのも特徴である。

Tobeta is a musician and a film director. He is a representative of Croix, a film company which aims to produce fantasy-inspired movies. His influences include great entertainers such as Tim Burton and Walt Disney. His musical expertise is in keyboard and piano. In 2006, Tobeta signed a contract with LLP10℃, a production office founded by Ryuichi Sakamoto. Two years later, Tobeta released his debut album Blue Butterfly on HatsUnlimited, a recording label run by violinist Taro Hakase. The album featured many artists from various genres, including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yukihiro Takahashi, Taeko Onuki, Yasuyuki Horigome (KIRINJI), and Keiichiro Hirano (recipient of the Akutagawa Award.) Tobeta has also had the pleasure of working with world-renowned artists, including Jaques Morelembaum and Chen Hao. Aside from being an invigorating music producer, Tobeta is also widely known for creating film music. He has composed music for The Witch of the West is Dead (2008), directed by Shunichi Nagasaki, and A Thousand Year Song of BaoBab (2008), directed by Seiichi Motohashi. Tobeta has also broadened his work in visual directions, starting with his own music video “Blue Butterfly,” which received nominations at the Short Film Festival in Asia 2009. The video was also recognized and presented at the Sapporo Short Film Festival 2009. Tobeta continues to be active in a wide range of entertainments, not only in the musical field but also in stage production and direction as well. Tobeta’s multifaceted talents and abilities bring his works together in a world truly of his own.
